FAQs

Thank you for taking the time to explore my art and learn more about my creative journey. I've put together this Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page to address some of the common queries I receive.

General FAQs

Where do you get your inspiration for your art?

I draw inspiration from observing colour, nature, and music. Movements is very important in my work, and is inspired by changing seasons, movement in nature, in music and dance and this is reflected in the way I paint

Spending time outdoors and reflecting on nostalgic memories from my past, such as growing up by the sea and going on long country walks, often inform my painting ideas.

What materials do you use in your work?

I primarily work with oil paints on canvas, MDF panel or wood panel, although sometimes I will create some pieces in acrylic paint. I use professional high quality oil paints such as Michael Harding, Winsor & Newton Artist Paints and Gamblin. All of my work is created with the use of oil painting mediums to help improve the flow of paint and speed up the very slow drying process involved in creating oil paints.

My paintings are finished with a layer of Gamvar Varnish to help protect the painting from dust and UV light.

Do you sell prints as well as original paintings?

For the majority of the year I sell original paintings and occasionally will do a print release. I will communicate this print release on my social media pages and directly to my email list.

If there is a particular piece that you would like as a print please do get in touch with me to let me know and we can discuss if I can help.

Do you take commissions for custom artwork?

Artwork care & display FAQs

How should I care for my painting?

To maintain the quality of your original painting, avoid placing it in direct sunlight or areas with high humidity.

Dust the surface gently with a soft, dry lint free cloth, such as a microfibre cloth, to keep it clean.

If you have a gallery wrapped canvas it is not unusual for them to become a bit loose. I would recommend taking it off the wall and carefully misting the back with some clean water to help tighten the canvas.

What size painting do you offer?

My artworks come in various sizes. Some pieces are as small as 30cm with some of my larger pieces being 150cm wide. Specific dimensions for each piece are listed in their descriptions on my website.

If you are looking for something bespoke please refer to the commissions FAQ above or via my commissions page.

Do you provide advice on the correct size art to choose and where to display my painting?

Yes, I'm very happy to help you choose the perfect piece to enhance your home and for guidance on how to display it. Feel free to contact me for personalised advice.
